My name is Shania Bailey.

I am one of two children of Richard & Faye Bailey (Northernwolf).

My brother, Olly and I, were born into a sled dog kennel, so have been around huskies and malamutes all our lives.

Back in 2001, I got my first Siberian Husky, Ice, on my 1st birthday. Growing up with 30 huskies, I’ve become a bit of an expert on them.

As a child I loved to help my parents do all the dog related chores.

I also enjoyed running the dogs in harness on my scooter and loved the long daily walks we would take the dogs on in the fields and forest that surrounded our home.

I also own two horses and two donkeys

As a youngster I became very interested in showing dogs and entered the show ring for the first time aged just 8 years old with my Border Collie, Donut.

I instantly loved it and as a teenager took up dog showing properly competing in both Open and Championship Shows.

Unlike my brother, dogs became what I lived for.

For the first eight years I’ve built my own Show / Working dog kennel and have imported several dogs from overseas.

My KC Kennel Name is Artictrail.

2022 was my second year competing at Crufts. (It would have been my third if it wasn’t for Covid).

Although my brother doesn’t share the same passion for dogs as I do, he has been known to enjoy running the huskies in harness on the rig.

Olly and I have not only grown up in the sled dog world, but also have both enjoyed acting together professionally.

This is one passion we do share and since a very young age both of us have performed on TV and stage.

Strangely enough this all came about due to the previous owner of one of our Malamutes being a Script Editor for a big TV soap.

My mum has owned sled dogs for more than two decades now.

For many years I’ve been her dog handler and trainer whilst she works my dogs in harness.

I love sharing the passion for sled dogs with my mum.

As much as I absolutely love being in the show ring working with my dogs, it doesn’t come close to snuggling up with them and just hanging out with my babies, watching a film with them or just simply spending time with them.

The unconditional love of a dog is a blessing.

I’m much more of a dog person than a people person.

If more people were like dogs, the world would a much nicer place.
